A Thousand Years
Spinning, revolving
On the surface evolving
Billions of years and there they are
From lifeless junk spewn from long dead stars
In the black void a blue sparkling orb
A cradle of life... A rare jewel indeed...
But before they know it
They might destroy it
With their own ignorance and greed
From villages, to cities
We’ve watched , with pity
To rise so far in science and the arts
Just to destroy their own world of which they are a part
If they can learn, we’ll know when we return
When our journey brings us back again
In a thousand years
Met with laughter or tears
We do hope a part of them remains
What did they learn? Finally our return!
Our journey has brought us back again
A thousand years have passed
Did wisdom come at last?
We do hope some part of them remains...
